I had been driving by this restaurant on my way home for a while now, and finally tried it last night. Alain's is located in an unassuming strip mall on Rte 59-- not exactly where I'd expect to find fine dining, but the food is good! My friend and I split an heirloom tomato and roasted corn salad with crispy basil-- very tasty. I then had steak tartare and my friend had the hangar steak. Both were quite good. My only quibble was that the frites that came with the tartare were oddly tasteless, given that they seemed to be house made and not frozen. Wine list was not large, but the selections were well chosen. Prices were moderate for the quality of the food. Atmosphere was causal and relaxed and the service was very good.
The place was not full, but pretty busy for a Tuesday night, with many seeming to be repeat customers. It's a great find for the area, and I will definitely return.
