Good food, great hospitality at The Common Man in Concord

Last month I was supposed to meet a friend at The Common Man, an hour away. When I told the hostess that I was waiting for someone, she asked my name and apologetically told me that my friend had been unable to reach me, and called there to say she couldn't make it. I stayed anyway, and had a very nice meal. I asked the waitress if a store I needed to visit had a location nearby. She didn't know, but said she'd ask the manager, who was a few steps away. He said he didn't know but would find out. He reappeared several minutes later, a print-out in hand, explaining that there was nothing in the phone book but he'd gone online and printed out the map. He asked how my meal was, and in addition to approving of it I mentioned that it was my first time there. He then insisted that I have dessert on the house. I should mention that I am an overweight middle-aged retiree - so there was no flirtatious motive on his part. I loved the copper penny carrots that are a free accompaniment to every meal, the roasted beet salad, and the mac&cheese. And that white chocolate bread pudding was delicious.
