Good Ethnic Eats in the Fresno/Clovis Area

Our last three days have been full of great ethnic food around our area.

1) La Posada in downtown Clovis makes wonderful Mexican food, located in downtown Clovis in a cute little yellow house. The Flores Family cooks real authentic recipes from Mexico. I actually have yet to find any place I like better. I usually have the chicken enchilada/chile relleno/tamale combo that is always wonderful. They also serve really good non-alcoholic margeuritas that I like and the guacomole is prepared just right. Another big hit is their shredded beef burrito that DH loves. We went with our oldest son and his fiance and my younger son recently took his grandparents here for the first time. They loved it. The best in the area, IMO without all the frills of places like Plaza Ventana.

2.) Kam-Pai-Japanese Food We're weekly regulars here. The steamed gyoza is wonderful and we usually just share the chicken/teriyaki dinner which is plenty for two people. The tempura here is prepared perfectly, not too crispy but with a really nice tasting batter. The California rolls are also very good. The corkage fee here is on $1/pp so we bring in our own wines at times. They do have a very nice btg Plum Wine that goes for $3.25/glass. Green tea ice cream is also very nice for dessert.

3.) Kim's Viatnamese (sp) on Shaw & Fresno. She used to be located over on Maroa & Shaw, but re-located to a beautiful new building the past year. The Fresno Bee recently did a write-up on this place. We used to be regulars here many years ago and would leave our infants with grandparents while we went out to dinner here on a weekly basis. We somehow lost touch with this place and wanted to re-kindle the flame we once had for it.

In one word-AMAZING! You receive a cup of soup, with BBQ'd shrimp and rice noodles which is excellent, a small chicken salad (mmm!), your entree, and flan for dessert for 8.25. What an amazing bargain. I chose the beef entree with the rice noodles which also came with two very nice size egg rolls. The entire dinner was wonderful and the beef was the most flavorful I've had in a long time. My DH loved his roasted chicken entree and said we need to start going here more often, again. We took home an order of the BBQ beef-ka-bob to my son at home and he raved about it. We will all be trying this place soon, since it's so affordable, we can go with our large group and not have the bank broke.

I highly recommend all three of these places for anyone looking for some great ethnic food in the area. I'll be returning to Kim's again soon to try her curried stewed chicken. And the rice noodles are addicting and wonderful!!! Bon appetit! ***kim***
