Is There a Good Cheese Store in or around Park Slope?

George Lynch | Jan 9, 2001 04:21 PM

Until a few years ago, there was a cheese store on the corner of 9th Street and 7th Avenue in Park Slope. Unfortunately, it closed and has never been replaced. I had no idea how profoundly this was gonna affect me until the the place was gone.

If there's a really good place to buy cheese in or around Park Slope, I surely don't know it. Of course, there are some places like D'Agastino that sell cheese, but their selection is limited, and everything is prepackaged, so it just ain't the same.

Given the fact that new wine stores seem to sprout in Park Slope like hair in an old man's ear, it's hard to believe that there aren't any good cheese places. I'm hoping that someone can tell me that I'm wrong (yet again...) and direct me to that nifty fromagerie that I've somehow missed in my peripatetic wanderings in the Slope area.
