Gogi Yogi in Shaw 1st and last visit

wineloverdc | Sep 3, 201902:02 PM     5

1st and last visit. I asked for a table instead of the bar I was offered. There were 2 maybe 3 tables occupied on a Tuesday at 1 pm and 12 or more empty. They refused. They have a policy. If they also have a brain, they need to know when to enforce policies and when i is ridiculous to do so.

I understand not wanting to give away a table on a Saturday night when you have reservations due. I understand that an empty dining room may be committed. I understand being told there is a wait when you come into a less than full dining room because the servers are overwhelmed. But none of this was relevant to a Tuesday opening lunch at 1 pm. It was simply someone at the door being a jerk and wanting to prove he was a bigger jerk than I became in my anger/amazement/disbelief. And I was super hungry so I was sure to order one or two appetizers, a meat (probably the kalbi or a dry-aged steak) and soju. I bet I would have spent as much as any two top they would have served in their nearly empty restaurant.

They were so intent on being right and refusing to compromise or even try to work things out and I will say I did lose it and get very angry. But how hard is it to realize that they can bend their rules when they are so dang empty. Sure thay can have whatever rules they want. And I can think them absurd for enforcing them at a time when there is no reason to. And I can post reviews and bad mouth them for horrendous service. We all have the right!

I cannot in good conscience give these folks money when there are a ton of restaurants willing to bend over backward to make a customer feel welcome. Why go somewhere where they delight in pissing off people enforcing silly rules at a time of day when enforcing them shows a simple lack of ability to adjust.

I think there are so many places worth your money. Not this one.

I hope they realize they don't have to be rigid and unwelcoming and that they can do things for their customers and adjust for how busy they are and what time it is. But if they do, I won't be back to see it.
