Gnocchi Question

I'm planning to make potato gnocchi for the first time this weekend (as I am convinced that I can make them better than the little leaden blobs my local italian place serves). I looked at several recipes on Epicurious and settled on one from Lidia Bastianich. So, here's the question: Lidia recommends peeling and ricing the potatoes (which may be either boiled or baked) when hot, an earlier thread on this board recommends ricing when cold. Which should I do?
