Glorious Bilal

Zoe | Apr 30, 2006 01:08 PM

One of the great things about coming home from the airport is to stop for dinner at Bilal. Now expanded to the next store, its buzzing with an even wider variety of patrons and at 6.30pm last night we were fortunate enough to get the last portion of the Saturday Birani Chicken special - a huge portion with lots of meat and flavor that is so intense it covers the whole palate. Yum. (Took most of it home)plus a salty lassi, Bilal version of raita with lots of cilantro which I like but Mme Zoe doesn't like. Also Roghan Josh with big chunks of lamb and a fiery sauce, paneer with chicken, two kinds of naan, garlic and regular, two samosas - again I liked but Mme didn't think were up to snuff. We both agreed there must be a new chef because the dishes were so much less greasy. Bill was about $30 and five big containers of leftovers for lunch today.

Bilal is the son of the owner and is a very Americanized Pakistani twenty something who brings a very warm welcome and says that happy goodbye "Look forward to you coming again". Lots of parking in a strip mall on Manchester, immediately east of Aviation Blvd on the north side of the street. Open every day.
