Now, I have a degree of bias, as we used to spend childhood holidays at Roshven, the next hamlet up Moidart on the Sound of Arisaig, but notwithstanding I think this place is stonking.
It's a sort of gastropub come eco lodge come watersports centre come smokery. All of these are good things!
We sat on the picnic benches overlooking the beach outside (eating al fresco! in Scotland! woo!) and watched sheep grazing on the seaweed while tucking into a Hunters Platter (smoked duck, smoked venison, rowan jelly, salad and bread) and a Ghillies Platter (as above, but hot and cold smoked salmon and mussels and relish). Yum yum.
The view is absolutely spectacular, and it's a handy pit stop only a few miles off the shiny new road from Mallaig to Fort William.
My son's only complaint was the lack of Irn Bru as it's all organic this and that. I was delighted however to find the complete Fever Tree range including their botanical Mediterranean Tonic.
