Glass or Stainless Covers for Traditional Electric Stove Heating Coil?

westes | Dec 23, 202105:46 PM     9

The traditional electric stove heating element is a coil shape, and this can scratch a stainless pot, usually when the cook slides the pot over the coil's surface. Does anyone make a permanent glass or stainless fixture that fits over the coil, to create a smoother surface to set the pot on? I know there are temporary flame protector covers that go over a gas burner. Those would be cumbersome to constantly put over the coil. I am looking for something that would fit permanently. In theory this should also make it easier to clean around the coil when anything bubbles out of the pot.
