First dinner in Chicago is at Giordano's for deep dish pizza. To our surprise, there was a line out the door despite being in an office building. They have a clever system where you order your pizza before being seated so you don't have to wait another 45 minutes after being seated. It took 35 minutes to be seated but the pizza arrived quickly. We watched the next table get their 2-inch-tall pizza and the gooey cheese stretched from the pan to plate and looked forward to our pizza. Lots of cheese, tomato-based sauce was slightly sweet and herbaceous, sausage was seasoned with fennel creating a lovely flavor profile, the Canadian bacon, mushrooms and onions melded well with the other ingredients. The crust was tall and firm and was more than up to corralling the large quantity of ingredients nicely. there may be better in town but for my first one this was damn good.
