On a last minute whim, went to Little Giant for dinner last night w/my boyfriend. I called in advance and was told that if I showed up at 10, I would have a table. As at every restaurant I have been to lately, there was a wait (this time 45 mins), despite earlier assurances. The spare but elegant lay-out and relaxed atmosphere of Little Giant immediately put us at ease, however, as did the wonderful specialty cocktails we had at the bar(a plum martini and a kir royale).
The wait was well worth it for the food that followed. (Had the beet salad as an appetizer, which was nice and creatively-prepared but very small and not memorable for the $10 price tag).
For the entree, I had the scallops w/butternut squash puree and toasted hazelnuts. The scallops were perfectly prepared and delicious, but what really made them stand out was the sauce and the puree--it was sweet and spicey, the perfect complement to the scallops. Really a wonderful combination. My bf had the lamb, which was tender and perfectly cooked.
The dessert (sticky toffee pudding) didn't stand up to the entrees, but overall, I had a great experience at Little Giant and am very eager to go back.
