Gettysburg, MD

My hubby and I will be traveling to Gettysburg this weekend for a roadtrip. I have never been to Gettysburg (despite growing up a stone's throw away in Delaware) and we never use our car in Manhattan - so we decided to justify our ridiculous parking garage fees and get some history and a nice drive!

We plan to drive through Amish country in PA on the way to our hotel in Mercersburg, PA on Saturday morning. I will be conducting a board search for lunch stops in that area - I know there has been a lot of discussion on that topic.

What I am really interested in, and which is not so discussed I think, are other stand-out places for lunch on Sunday or dinner Saturday in this Mercersburg - greater Gettysburg area - which I am hoping some of you DC/Baltimore folks might have some leads on.

(I realize Mercersburg, PA may be a good half hour or more from Gettysburg, MD but this is where we are staying - so in the general area of both is fine for us!)

Are there any regional specialties? Truly beautiful spots? Thanks for any information you can provide.

Rebecca
