This is a tiny, hole-in-the-wall shop at 265 Neptune Ave (at Brighton 3rd St, I think) that a friend and I visited this past weekend; the food here is so good that I wanted to share our experience with the Chowhound world at large. It seems a place purely targeted for locals: one refrigerator case with a small selection of homemade salads (eggplant, liver w/ pomegranate seeds, leek) and Georgian cheeses, a small rack with some preserves and sauces, and the main feature, Georgian Bread (hence the name). This bread is cooked in long, sturgeon-like loaves in a big, beehive-shaped charcoal-fired oven right near the front of the tiny shop...you can watch the owner pull freshly baked loaves out with his little hooked yardstick apparatus. We ate it right out on the sidewalk in front of the shop, slathered with leek and eggplant salad...warm, soft, crusty, just unbelievably delicious. The shop owner is a doll too. Please check it out if you're in the area; it's well worth it!!!
