George's Restaurant and Donuts

Hey this place is the best greasy spoon in the Park Slope area. I will not say where it is only that it is not the one on 5th ave. Where else can you get a breakfast for under $3? I don't need banana-walnut pancakes or lemon-ricotta pancakes. I can make that at home for half the price as Tom's. I won't venture to Dizzy's as that seems to be the only place for breakfast in that area and gets jam packed (as does Tom's but I live closer to Tom's and can get there early enough to beat the crowd on weekends). As for George's, the food is basic, eggs, pancakes, french toast. There are only four tables and a counter and the great thing is the owners, John & Mike, and the waitresses, Helen and Mary, who make this place so much fun. After going there a few times they will get to know you and you will be in a real neighborhood greasy spoon NOT one which just gives that impression. Tom's on weekends is too hectic and the orders come out irregularly, I will be almost done with my meal before my wife gets hers or viceversa. Sure Tom's brings around orange slices or cookies but whatthefuck, I just want good service, good food at a good price for breakfast. Tom's runs about $7 a head. Sure the cakes may be better at Tom's but really, eggs are eggs and for half the price and half the idgestion (from waiting on line, kids whining, etc.) I would rather go to George's.
