Gene's BBQ and Family Restaurant, Brinkley AR -- give it a wide berth!

Transplanted Texan | Jan 3, 201110:25 AM

A poster on this board had mentioned Gene's Barbecue as a place with "outstanding" country food. Oh, I wish. When you're traveling, there are limited eating opportunities and we so wanted this one to be good.

Save yourself the disappointment and go elsewhere.

The bbq pork had the consistency of smoked shoe laces. The chicken half was dry as the Sahara -- not even the dark meat was moist. The coleslaw was mayonnaised glop. The potatoes in the potato salad were, to put it kindly, al dente. We did like the barbecue beans!
