Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge

My wife and I rented a Cabin near PF for the week of Thanksgiving. After hearing the replies on this board, I decided to cook all week and save some money. We did eat out 3 times and here is my report.

First night, had some supplies, but not really enough to make a meal, and no charcoal for the grill, so I just decided I would go out and grab somthing in PF...thinking maybe even just fast food...anyway, saw Geno's Pizza, and thought...looks local, could be pretty good and quick....WRONG, not that it took too long, it just plain sucked, I would have taken any national chain any day! Ordered Peperoni and Banana Pepper, and Im about 90% sure they were Pepperoncinis not Banana and there was a stem on the pizza. I am also pretty sure the crust was frozen...ugg! Seriously, I should have saved $10 and picked up a DiGiorno at Kroger.

A few nights later we drive Roaring Foark at dusk and catch Dinner at Cherokee Grill. Nice place, solid service, good food. We had some twist on egg rolls for an appitizer, I think it was smoked pork, with a good dipping sauce. Pretty good. I had a house salad with blue cheese dressing both the salad and dressing were top notch. My wife had the Crab Cake Sandwich, which was nothing to write about, but fine. I had the Herb Crusted Trout, the preperation style was not listed on the menu, but I think it was broiled skin on. Cooked perfectly, only 3 or 4 bones from the side fins. Mac and Cheese side was good, but not spectacular. Over all, good food, a bit over priced IMO, but for a tourist town not too bad, but I would try Park Grill next time.

I wanted to get out and get some Pancakes! But I just couldnt bear that drive through the dreaded Gatlnburg Strip unless necessary and the only places particularly recomended were in Gatlinburg (Applewood and Pancake Pantry???), so I figure they are all pretty much the same. We go with Flapjacks. Local chain, should be OK....WRONG AGAIN! Ill go quick like pulling off a band aid. Service was fine. The only thing in the good was that the mason jar glasses were charming. Coffee, Pancakes, Grits (were they instant?), Hashbrowns ALL horrible! Omlet was pretty bad too! I would have taken Waffle House or IHOP instead. Oh and it was $29 with tip.

Thanks for the warnings, and here is one more for anyone looking.
