Garden of Tranquility - feh

I've heard mixed reports about this place, but there was a spot right in front at lunchtime today, and I thought I'd give it a try.

I was immediately charmed by the nicely decorated interior, less so by the placid-at-best waitstaff. I ordered a special rice plate, lamb with bok choy, and, since it may be a late night at my desk, an order of egg drop soup.

I have over half of my total food left, portion size was fair. The lamb with bok choy included generous portions of each in a nondescript brown sauce. The egg drop soup is terrible -- tastes mostly of water with a cornstarchy thickness and bits of egg, frozen peas and carrots, and diced button mushrooms. Ech.

Turns out even to-go lunch comes with a cup of hot and sour soup. Good on the sour, nonexistant on the savory depth, again, a finish that seems watery. Also, very little "stuff" in it.

But my fortune says: "Sing and rejoice: fortune is smiling upon you," so I can't hate them too much. I just don't feel any need to return.
