About a hundred years ago...OK about 1980...I lived in Houston and we used to go to Galveston to eat fried Shrimp. We would go to a very small place at one of the piers (like Pier 19 but I can't recall the number) I beleive this was actually a commercial shrimping operation that had a very small kitchen as you cold see them unlaoding large quatities of shrimp from the boats on the doc out behind the restaurant. There were only about 6 stools to eat inside this very small place but I have always recalled these as the best fried shrimp I have ever had. As I recall it was pretty close to the strand.
I have long sinced moved away but are planning to return to Galveston this next weekend to show my wife the city for the first time and, of course, to eat some fried shrimp.
Does anyone know of this place I recall and if it is still around or do you have other wonderful recommendations for fried Shrimp in Galveston?
Initial searches seem to indicate a resturant called Shrimp and Stuff is the favorite but it is not the place I remember.
Thanks in advance for your help!
