Gaby's v Zankou?

Sasha | Nov 21, 200508:44 PM

We had slightly over an hour yesterday before Harry Potter (which we had pre-bought tickets for), so decided to go to Gaby's for the first time and order some appetizer to go to eat in line at the theater. The theater was close, and we only picked one appetizer (albeit hot).

Thus, I was really bummed about the fact that it took them over 30 minutes to get it to me, forcing us to sit on the side aisle 3 rows from the front for the show. Was the food even worth it?

No. The app we ordered was called Arayis I believe - and described as spiced beef, tomato, and parsley grilled in a pita. The filling was fairly bland, fairly greasy, and they burned the pita in places to charcoal black.

Question for you guys. Gaby's is close but so is Zankou, which I love. Does it make sense to go back to Gaby's for something like a tarna or schwarma that I could get at Zankou, which does a great job with it? Or, if Zankou beats Gaby's on the grilled meat offerings, is there any other reason to go back to Gaby's? I've read the hummus is great, but I'm not sure if that alone is worth a trip. TIA.
