Funky Funky Broome

I could tack this on to the Funky Broome thread, but I want to make sure it's read - not only was it not good, but it was truly wretched.

Granted, we only got 4 dishes and we didn't check Chowhound for recommendations (and looking back on those posts, I see that many people point out its inconsistency).

The fish cake appetizer: McDonalds tod mun pla. Yuck. the chinese sausage and preserved vegetable appetizer was the best, though we only spotted ONE (not three, as promised) kind of Chinese sausage, and the vegetables weren't preserved - it was just chopped carrot, lotus root, celery, hot peppers, etc. stir fried with the sausage. If it wasn't for the simple fact that Chinese sausage is SO damn good, it would have been a wash. The baby shrimp with sweet pear was exactly that, except the shrimp, while fresh, weren't babies. Steam up some shrimps & sliced pear & call it an entree. Nothing to the sauce but cornstarch and some stray vegetables. The pork & fried tofu mini-wok was equally pointless - deep-fried tofu stewed to rubbery oblivion with the occasional pork chunk, which, though tough, had a hint of flavor...but most of the pork was in the form of flavorless and inedible rinds.

We may have just ordered wrong, and I'm willing to go back, but MAN - what a bummer. We left our food and ran for a pork bun.
