There's a new club in town called the Fun Young Foodie Club. I attended the first two events - the first was at Emilio's in Lincoln Park and the second was at Mon Ami Gabi, also in Lincoln Park.
At Emilio's, the menu was spectacular - the head chef of the four Emilio's in Chicago came and cooked dishes for the club - all items that one could not order from the regular menu. My favorite item was a huge grouper encased in rock salt and baked for several hours. When they brought the grouper out, the chef had a hammer to break the salt - very cool! He then filleted the grouper and served it with three different types of sauces, including a delicious saffron sauce. The food was so good, I ate way too much of it all.
The next event was at Mon Ami Gabi, a great French restaurant. My favorite was the steak frites - quite delicious. Best of all, each guest was given a certificate for a complimentary steak frites!
I missed the third event at Kamehachi; however, I am looking forward to the December 9th event at Mas, a 6 course meal with a drink pairing for each course. The guests at the other two events were young professionals who seemed to enjoy the food as much as I did, so I'm looking forward to Mas.
