I will be visiting Ft. Myers for a five-day weekend next week. My mom lives not far from the airport off Daniels between the 75 and 41, but we'll go to Naples a couple of times. In my annual visits I've enjoyed Bistro 41 (love the meatloaf, but always said to be going downhill), Roy's, the Real Macaw, and even the Prawnbroker. I had a disappointing meal at Chops a couple of years back, but Mom likes it and I mistakenly ordered a special instead of something grilled. I live in L.A.
I have read many posts about Cru and I know RevrendAndy, who I respect, is a fan, but Mom is focused on food much more than wine and it seems a bit frou frou for my tastes. Nektar has mixed reviews and isn't exactly what I want. Mom has made a reservation at somewhere called Truluck's (or something close). How is that?
I'll try to get to Grouper and Chips for casual lunch. Anything similar closer in Ft. Myers?
Any unique, don't-miss places that come to mind? Price isn't much of a concern -- something fun on or near the water might be good too.
There were reviews of a Miss Saigon (??) a couple months ago. Any edible Chinese for lunch in Ft. Myers?
All suggestions welcome, especially with recommendations of specific dishes. Thanks.
