Frozen Blueberries in Blueberry Nutmeg Cake

Hello, baking mavens!

I'd like to bake a blueberry nutmeg cake for a luncheon next week. As I'm also in the throes of Use What You Have, I'd sub frozen berries for the fresh ones. The recipe I'm using ( from Cheryl Sternman Rule's Ripe) calls for tossing the berries with some lemon juice and sugar. Will that be an issue if I us frozen berries? I know not to thaw the berries first.
