Frosting for a decorated b-day cake

Weiszguy | Nov 5, 200408:01 AM

Help! I need to make a cake tonight for my son's first birthday. I was planning on making a buttercream frosting from Bon Appetit until I noticed it required cooking on a stove (problem as our kitchen is under renovation and I'm baking the cake in a neighbor's oven, don't want to press my luck by making the icing over there, too!). Does anyone know of a good buttercream recipe, a little less lard-ish than the one on the Domino sugar box, that doesn't require cooking and will work well for decorating the cake?

Thanks.
