Fried Turnip Pudding?

Jeremy Osner | Feb 18, 2002 06:12 PM

I had a Chinese dish at lunch yesterday that I want to eat again soon; unfortunately the restaurant was in Philadelphia, where I don't live. I'm wondering if anyone has a source for it in Manhattan or Queens -- the dish is called (or was called at this restaurant) Fried Turnip Pudding -- it was sort of like a savory rice pudding, but instead of little pieces of rice there were little flecks of preserved meat. The pudding was creamy and with just a hint of sweetness mating very well with a briny sour flavor. I couldn't tell what the cuisine of the restaurant was, except I thought it might be Taiwanese.
