My wife's brother just moved to East Boston, but they haven't ventured beyond Winthrop at this point. We'd really like to take them out to the North End for Italian, and thanks to the wonderful post by bachslunch:
it looks like I'll fare a bit better than New York's Little Italy. (The generic one in Manhattan, not the good one in the Bronx.)
I read up on the restaurants deemed excellent in that post and it looks like we've decided on Giacomo's. (Is this still a solid recommendation for decent, well-priced South Italian red-sauce favorites?) However, we'd definitely love a place to go for coffee and dessert afterwards - is there a place within a few blocks (or on the way back to the T) that will knock our socks off? Anything else worth checking out on a Friday evening? How's Caffe Vittoria? Should we stop at Modern Pastry for some treats to bring home?
Thanks for your help!
