fresh salads in downtown Oakland?

Marc Wallace | Feb 11, 200205:22 PM     1

Anyone have suggestions for a good, fresh salad in downtown Oakland? Preferably a "pick up and take back to the office" place.

My current fave is "The Fine Place" (17th, between Franklin and Webster), but it's getting kind of old. Also, whenever I get the young girl making my salad, it's very minimal -- maybe a piece of carrot or broccoli, as versus the standard five or six pieces. I really preferred the previous owners.

Also been to "Four Seasons Cafe" (21st near Broadway; okay but didn't thrill me) and the salad bar in city center (pay per pound, and they push "heavy" items like potato salad, not the most amazing lettuce).

Thanks...
