Fresh masa in Winnipeg?

Allegra_K | Mar 13, 2010 04:56 AM

I have recently been introduced to the glory that is a Salvadoran-style fresh masa corn tortilla, and would love to learn to make and grind my own masa. Corn flour just doesn't cut it for me anymore! I am looking for a place in Winnipeg to purchase "cal"(calcium hydroxide, also known as slaked lime) so that I can attempt this feat using the several pounds of field corn I have acquired. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find this? If there is nothing local, are there any (preferably Canadian) websites that would sell it? I have been unsuccessful in my quest thus far. Also would like to find a place that sells dried field corn...not sure if any store in this city would carry it, but one can hope!
Any help would be appreciated!
