We hit the Woodhouse Fish Company, on Market at 14th this week. They have just opened and we really enjoyed it.
The menu is short, its all fish and shellfish. The prices are very reasonable and the decor was fresh and charming. Everything we saw go by look good, and all the faces at all the tables were smiling.
No desserts was a small downside, but after dinner we were so full from the generous portions that we didn't miss it after all.
The clam strips were plump juicy fat litle squiggles that were hot and crispy and had NEVR see the inside of a freezer... adn the fish and chips were big flakey hunks of white cod in a crisp batter that was almost like a tempura it was so clean. the chips were good too.
the hunks of french bread were fresh and yeasty and just how bread in SF should be, but often isnt anymore.
They had lemonade that was served as juice and syrup and ice water so you could mix your own that followed in the footsteps of everything else we had here. FRESH!
Honestly, we were just walking along and thinking about stopping into Chow or Home and saw it. Only open a week.
Family run by a father and his 2 sons. service was cheerful and informed but a little ragged... in a few weeks it should be smoother.
The flat screen tv on the wall dressed up to look like a big picture window that was showing tape of marinas and boats and old nautical movies, It was a crack up!
Not to noisy.
Fish and chips was 15.00
Dinner for 2 including drinks and tip was around 40.00
well worth checking out...
