My boyfriend and I are both foodies and it is our last year living in NYC before moving to europe. He is french, and generally is not impressed by american versions of french food. However, we've had some excellent meals in NYC: I think our favorite was Corton when we went in october. We also really enjoyed Momofuku Ko a few months back and Anthos a few years ago.
I'm trying to find a place for his birthday in ~ 2 weeks. I was thinking EMP but it's already all booked up. Per Se is just too expensive. I was pondering Gilt, SHO, Grenouille and Bouley. I've been to Bouley and really enjoyed it. However I'm shying away from Grenouille and Bouley because they are so french and i don't want to risk disappointment.
Suggestions? Anyone tried SHO? Other recommendations?
