Had a fantastic experience at Pre Catalan in Paris, and was hoping to find something similar in NYC: great food, service, elegant surroundings, etc. and no hype, no celebrity chefs, no pretense. Been debating Daniel or Jean Georges(which fail the chef & pretense categories - i know...), but would much rather prefer a more intimate setting without all the hoo-ha. Some place fabulous that hasn't been discovered or tainted with a glowing review in the Times(and the drones it attracts). Any advice?
