a quick report on my meal at frascati (not i fratelli, not fringale) last night (green and hyde -not union- in sf). it was stunningly good, mostly because of absolutely perfect gnocchi. they were light and melt-in-your-mouth, with perfect peas and fava beans. i also now understand why truffle oil is so wonderful. i could eat that dish every day for quite some time. definetely a top 10 dish ever for me.
i then had the halibut, which i thought was fine. maybe it was really good, but the gnocchi were an incredibly hard act to follow. companions had the risotto (rich and i think a little too salty, but still really good), and the pork, which i did not try.
also had a lovely white wine... isabelle? it was fruity and delicious. friendly service throughout, and a very nice olive oil with the table bread.
