Frank's Famous Kitchen & Bakery/Dr. Bob's Ice Cream

Well, I trundled on down to Glendale/Montrose to Frank's Famous Kitchen & Bakery, as touted on an earlier post. I ordered a sundae with their "incredible homemade hot fudge" and Dr. Bob's Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. To say the least, the sundae was underwhelming. The scoop of ice cream was small, had less flavor then Breyer's or Dreyer's vanilla bean, and was served with a chocolate sauce that was slightly thicker than Hershey's. No fudgey, gooey texture, no deep, dark chocolately flavor. And to top it off, they squirted a tiny dollop of commercial whipped cream from a can. My friend, whom I dragged along as navigator, had a cup of Dr. Bob's Cappuccino Crunch. "I prefer Jerseymaid", says she. So, there you have it. In defense of Frank's, the menu looks interesting. When asked by the server what we thought of the ice cream, we were honest. "Yeah, I was kind of disappointed myself" was her reply. So, Ben & Jerry's...you have nothing to fear!!!
