Franklin NC

Thanks to those of you who responded to my request for information on eats in Franklin NC a few weeks ago. We were there last weekend. Unfortunately, we had little time to eat out, but here is what we learned/experienced.

The Frog and Owl is pretty good. We ate there Sat. nite. Good salads. Variety. Very ample portions. The folks who took us there said it was the best in town, as did others we spoke to. We started with a bisque of lobster which was excellent. I had lamb loin which was done properly and served with mashed pot and asparagus, both good. Unfortunately the mint sauce dominated--I had meant to tell them to leave it off, but forgot. Oh well. Janet had trout, which was big and done well. She couldn't eat much of it, so I snacked on it the next day.

Fat Buddy's ribs were fairly OK. The chicken however was mushy; I can't recommend it.

Sunday we drove down to GA, and found Henry's and Oinkers. Oinkers was of course closed--it's not supposed to be open on Sunday. But so was Henry's. It was late in the day by then, so that may explain it. But we did hear that it had either changed hands, or had actually closed for good---not clear. If anyone has info, let us know.

Again, thanks to all. We'll be back there so will be trying other places.
