Had a really great meal at Fragole last Saturday, an Italian place on Court Street in Carroll Gardens.
Started with the baked polenta topped with fresh asparagus and asiago cheese, which was amazing. Then we had the fettucine with porcini mushrooms and the eggplant parmiagiano as main courses. Both dishes were made with the freshest ingredients and were real standouts. The eggplant parm, a dish easily ruined by overfrying and heavy, gloppy cheese, was divine -- light with a tangy tomato sauce. The porcini had a nice musty mushroom taste. Another plus: the room, which feels like a small Italian taverna in Tuscany. This one I highly recommend.
