i'm glad i'm not the only one here to notice that their checkout people are a nightmare. i live in the neighborhood and drop in 3-4 times a week on my way home. so lots of small purchases. each time, it seems, i have to ask the cashier for my receipt and then she asks if i need a bag -- as if i'm going to hold three items in one hand and a briefcase in the other. it happens often enough that i begin to fear that i'm about to turn into a surly unpleasant jerk.
at seven in the evening, i'm tired and hungry and i hate having to interact with the cashier in ways i never do at dominick's/jewel/market place. hand me my damned receipt without my having to ask and then just bag my groceries they way they do in every other supermarket in america.
and yeah, they still have trouble recognizing the produce.
one last gripe -- prices of staples are still high. i wish they'd price the routine stuff a bit more aggressively so i'd be more inclined to spend $$ on the really good stuff.
