Back Forty review - short

Jorel | Jun 14, 2008 07:25 AM

Three of us went to Back Forty last night and sat in the garden. Waited about 20 minutes at 10 to 8pm and sat at the bar for a drink in the meantime. Garden was nice, though we were almost hit by a water balloon thrown by a neighborhood kid.

We ordered a bunch of stuff to share. The highlights, by far, were the biscuits, a special appetizer that night, and the trout, which was cooked very well and remained quite juicy and a bit fatty which is not typical for trout. Even without eating the skin, the flesh had a very good, rich flavor.

Everything else was okay (eggplant entree, drunken potatoes, artichoke hearts, strawberry-rhubarb pie) or good (special app of snap peas). The bill for three of us came to $130 including tax and tip ($36 a person), including two apps (we got two orders of the biscuits) three sides (snap peas, artichoke hearts and drunken potatoes), two entrees (eggplant and trout), one bottle of wine (a decent white well priced at just $26) and one dessert (strawberry-Rhubarb pie).

Overall, I'd go back. Nice garden, decent food. Not transcendent, but solid.
