Formosa in Fremont

Dave S. | Oct 10, 200405:24 PM

A previous message tipped us off to the existence of Formosa, a korean-chinese restaurant nearby in Fremont near the Lion foods supermarket (and Woodlands, and Udupi Palace, but I digress...).

We tried the twice cooked pork off of the english menu and two other dishes, with the patient recommendations of our server. This was my first exposure to Korean-Chinese dishes, so excuse my ignorance.

GanPong Chicken -- Lightly floured garlic and jalapeno-spiced chicken wings glazed with a sweet sauce. Nice and dry when we went, very tasty.

TsaoMaMian -- tasted like a miso-based soup (?), waitress boasted of hand pulled noodles. Shrimp, sliced meats, and cabbage. Not very spicy but flavorful nonetheless.

Twice cooked pork (off the English menu) -- pork short ribs cooked with lettuce, bell peppers, and mushrooms in a bulgogi-like sauce. Sweet but not overly so.

Prices were ~ $7 a dish. I'm sure we were severely handicapped in our choices by speaking neither chinese nor korean, but it was a good meal overall.
