We will be visiting Providence for the first time, and I would love some dinner recommendations. We will be there for 3 dinners, over Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (at the end of June). It will be my wife, myself and our 20 year old son. We are all very adventurous and love finding local hot spots that aren't touristy. I'm not looking for expensive 'fine dining', but otherwise I'm open to all price ranges. Likely wouldn't want Italian, as we have such amazing regional Italian options in Toronto. We tend to like young, innovative chefs. For example 2 of our favorite meals ever were at Stephanie Izard's Girl and the Goat in Chicago, and at Kevin Sbraga's place in Philadelphia.
My wife and son aren't picky - they will eat almost anything. But I am trying to follow a 'heart healthy' diet, after having had a heart attack last year. So, I am trying to avoid deep fried or highly fatty foods, and trying to have lots of veggies - eg. I am avoiding red meat, and things doused in butter. We all like fish and seafood, and given the location of Rhode island, that would be what I would hope for - I would assume there would be a lot more fresh fish and seafood than we'd have in Toronto.
We are staying at the Hilton Biltmore downtown, and my wife is doing a course at the Hotel Providence, but I am open to suggestions anywhere, as we will have our car.
I have tried researching on the Net, and one that looked good to me is Redfin Crudo - is that recommended? Another one that sounded good is Cook and Brown Public house - anyone been there?
thanks for any suggestions :)
