I've recently been watching a few episodes of Chef's Table and noticed that a few of the chefs and commentators referenced food as art. What are your thoughts in general on this?
I personally consider long tasting menus as experiences. The cooking and plating at many restaurants has artistic qualities artistic, but is the food really art? At Alinea there is a genius to the cuisine, but in the end you just eat the food. However, the memory of a great meal lasts a while so does that offset this? Just wondering what opinions others may have.
