Hello fellow Chowhounds....during our honeymoon 5 years ago we spent THE most amazing afternoon at this place in Florence (http://www.pittigolaecantina.com/), and had a multi-course wine and food pairing that literally blew our minds. Now we are headed back to Italy to celebrate our 5th anniversary in October and are planning to spend our time doing food and wine related things as we work our way down from Venice to Rome. We have not nailed the fine details of our itinerary yet but I'm eyeing the hill towns of central Italy (Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Volterra, etc) for ~7 days of our 2 week trip. I would absolutely love any recommendations that focus on places that specialize in food and wine pairings in that region. Considering hitting Dario's place in Panzano for 1 day as well...any thoughts on whether that experience has jumped the shark would be much appreciated. Our preference is to spend some time with thoughtful pairings in a slower environment chatting with winemakers, etc. vs. sterile enomatic style tastings or big commercial wineries.
