Flor de Mayo's ceviche on the Upper West Side

Wow! If you like raw, super-fresh and/or just plain tangy foods, I say give this one a try. While Latin/Chinese restaurants on the whole strike me as temples of comfort, this lime-drenched little appetizer was just the opposite. It just about curled my tongue the way a really hot pepper will -- so much so that my tongue didn't notice what my eyes took in, which is that it's PILED with red onions (yum). And mine was made with simple, unassuming flounder, as opposed to those Latinized-sashimi creations gracing fussier restaurant tables. It's only $7, and boy does it make for a nice contrast to the main course of comfort food wending its way to your newly revived palate...
