I read an article some time ago that you could remove the brine solution from a frozen turkey by soaking in in plain water for a while. Unfortunately, I'm unable to locate that article.
I want to do this because I have a frozen turkey that's pre-injected with salt solution. I'm doing a thanksgiving turkey test run and want to remove the brine and then use my own custom brine after that.
Has anyone done this? The turkey has been thawed, rinsed and now soaking in a plain, ice-water bath in my fridge. The only question I have is how long it needs to sit -- and how often do I change the water before its ready for my custom brine?
