I had a nice steaming bowl (albeit styrofoam bowl) of fish ball soup at this little stall next to the Hong Kong Market on Colima in the city of Rowland Heights yesterday, the one immediately to the left of the supermarket, next to the Crepe shop. Chewy white fish balls in a light clear broth with rice noodles and bean sprouts. Typically, in the summer, you would eat this under the umbrellas set up in front of the noodle stall, but last night, since it was raining, we slurped our noodles just on the sidewalk with some plastic chairs they set up for us. Steam clouding up my glasses, hot broth warming my body. These noodles aren't out of this world or anything, just very simple, quick food. The price? $2.50 per bowl. We also ordered the fried calamari which had a nice crunchy batter and tender meat. It is served with a few pickled veggies underneath. $2.75 for an order.
