Where can I find Tri Tip sandwiches SLO style?

A couple months ago I visited my good friend who is going to school at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. One night for dinner we went to a place called Firestones (a popular place for students for burger type food and such) for dinner. Based on my friend’s recommendation, I ordered a tri tip sandwich. I'm not usually one for bbq sauce, but I figured I should get it the way she usually gets it (so I can get the real experience). The sandwich came on a soft french roll that was buttered and grilled/toasted slightly (I think)... the meat was perfectly tender and the sandwich was served with a side of delicious bbq sauce (I can't remember if there was sauce on the actual sandwich or not)... the whole combination was amazing... she informed me that these types of sandwiches are available all over San Luis Obispo... I was just wondering if anything like this is available in the bay area... I've never been a big bbq meat sandwich person, so perhaps I have never notice similar sandwiches on menus?? I recognize this type if sandwich is probably not as popular in northern california, but is there anywhere I can get a similar experience without driving all the way to cal poly???
