I am looking for a place that I can buy some actual, true szechuan peppercorns. I remember reading an article in the NY Times a while ago that stated it may be frowned upon to import them, and so they can be difficult to find. I had even written down the web site that they mentioned where you can find it(adrianascaravan.com), but they do not seem to carry it now, if they ever did. Is there a place in Chinatown you can casually "inquire" (nudge-nudge, wink-wink) about them? I am sure that the good Szechuan restaurants must have access to it, because at least in NYC they would have that familiar numbing zip to some of their dishes.
