on the recomendation of the Weekly's johnathan gold, i had the extreme pleasure of trying Cassell's Hamburgers on 6th street just west of Vermont. I have long been a devotee of the burger at Apple pan, with its intricate hicory and steak sauces. Yet Cassell's burger is something so pure and juicy (due to both the quality of the meat and the ingenious double-broiler that retains so much flavor) that it requires no embellishment. That usually doesn't stop the patron from adding some of the delicious condiments, always homemade and of the highest quality, including homemade mayo and a real roquefort dressing. For those of you feeling a little ballsy, try ordering your burger "blue," which is codespeak for seared rare. Don't worry about falling ill -- the meat is ground fresh every morning on site, having been shipped overnight from Colorado. And don't forget to try the fried zuchinni and the fresh homemade lemonade. enjoy.
ps: its open only from 11-4 PM, monday to saturday
