My friend and I are looking for a great beef restaurant somewhere, anywhere on the Peninsula or South Bay. I know a lot of the beef greats in SF - Harris, Ruth's Chris, Brothers (Korean BBQ), House of Prime Rib - but don't know of any in the Peninsula or South Bay area. It could be either a steak house or other beef restaurant.
Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
For your reference, here are some of my favorite beef restaurants:
MarkJoseph (in Manhattan): My absolute favorite steak house in the US. They have the same if not better quality than Peter Luger's (in Brooklyn) but take credit card and are much more convenient to get to for peeps who live in Manhattan.
Ruth's Chris (SF): My favorite steak house in SF. I know. I'm a bit embarrassed that a chain ranks at the top of my list in SF, but there's something about the steaks sizzling on the hot plate with a glaze of butter on top that I just can't resist.
Koryo (Oakland): My favorite Korean BBQ joint in the Bay Area based on quality of beef and marinade alone. Service could be nicer, but you can't beat the taste of that thinly sliced and sizzling piece of beef as it moves from the flaming wood charcoal grill on your table and lands on your tongue.
Brothers (SF): This Korean BBQ restaurant is a close second compared to Koryo. The beef is almost as good as Koryo but the service is much friendlier. Whether you go to Brothers or Koryo, you should definitely remember to not wear nice clothes as the aroma from all the BBQ smoke will permeate your clothes. Usually, I can smell the delicious combination of garlic, marinade and BBQ smoke emanating from my pores the next morning. Yum...
House of Prime Rib (SF): Although the beef can be a bit inconsistent here, this is still one of my favorite SF beef restaurants. When they're on, the quality of the prime rib is excellent. Also, as weird as this may sound, the salad appetizer here is also great. Most importantly, HOPR is a lot of fun to visit because there's always a very festive atmosphere to the restaurant.
