As a man born and raised in rural Iowa, I cannot claim there are many regional dishes from home that I crave, or, in the Calivn Trillin's vernacular, that are on my Register of Frustration and Deprivation. That being said, there is one item I have yet to find outside of the small rural kitchens of Iowa that lives up to my standards - the pork tenderlion sandwich. I have too often been had by Chicago establishments stating they have Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches, only to find on my plate either an unfortunate nuevo version of said sandwich or a Sysco product.
What I crave is a thick, tender, hand-breaded pork tenderloin. One with the proper meat-to-breading ratio and just the right crunch as you bite through the breading. Is there anyhere in Chicago proper I might find the object of my desire? Many thanks in advance.
