Well, my beloved El Arco Iris in Highland Park is STILL closed after closing for remodeling in December. The phone message no longer says they will re-open "approximately the first week in February", but now there is no answer at all.
I think it's time to take some drastic measures and move on to greener guacamole.
I'm looking for good, solid Mexican-American food, preferably in the Eagle Rock/Highland Park area. Doesn't need to have atmosphere since I usually take out. Doesn't have to have good margaritas. DOES have to have chunky, thick guacamole (not like Ernie Jr.'s) and cheese enchiladas on the menu. BONUS if they have chilaquiles.
I've thought of Villa Sombrero but I have heard the margaritas are better than the food, which doesn't help me much unless they change the liquor laws and allow me to bring home a pitcher or two.
I'm sort of over Senor Fish though they do have good guacamole.
I know where all the good taco trucks are -- that's not what I'm looking for.
